Author's Bio

I graduated with a B.A. in English and an Ed.M. in English Education from Rutgers University. I am a certified Teacher of English and Creative Writing at North Plainfield High School in New Jersey, where I also advise and edit the school’s award-winning literary-art magazine. I also possess a Supervisor Certification. I have taught literature in translation at Rutgers University in the Modern Greek Studies Program, and previously have edited research papers of graduate students in the Toxicology department at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. I have also taught English courses at New Jersey City University and Union County College. I have one published book of poetry, The Worthy Pursuit: Poems of Body, Soul, and Spirit (2005), a second poetry book, Palimpsest, currently in submission, and poems published in the literary journals Killing the Angel, Unfettered Verse, and Milk Sugar, as well as contributions to educational books. I am also a life-long music lover. I play the guitar and sing, and I have performed music and poetry shows in New Jersey, in addition to participating in live poetry readings. I write music, as well, and performed four original songs at my high school's annual Creative Writing shows, which I began in 2015 as an outgrowth of the classes I teach. My original songs I performed are: "I Believe in You," performed at the Second Annual Creative Writing show (2016), "Face the Music," performed at the Third Annual Creative Writing show (2017),  "Go Forward," performed at the Fourth Annual Creative Writing show (2018), and "Listen," performed at the Fifth Annual Creative Writing Show (2019).
