Author's Bio

Saúl Hernández is a queer LATINX writer from San Antonio, TX, who was raised by undocumented parents. He has an MFA in Creative Writing from The University of Texas at El Paso. As a finalist for The Wisconsin Poetry Series, Saúl's first poetry collection, How to Kill a Goat & Other Monsters, is forthcoming Spring 2024, University of Wisconsin Press. He's the winner of the 2022 Pleiades Prufer Poetry Prize judged by Joy Priest. Also, the winner of the Two Sylvias Press Chapbook Prize 2021 chosen by Victoria Chang. Saúl is a finalist for the Palette Poetry 2020 Spotlight Award. His poems have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize & Best of The Net. His work is forthcoming/featured in Pleiades, Frontier Poetry, Poet Lore, Foglifter Journal, Oyster River Pages, Cherry Tree, & elsewhere. Saúl has received support/fellowships for his work from Tin House & MACONDO.
