Author's Bio

teri elam (she/her) has been published in various publications, including Prairie Schooner, Slice Magazine, Limp Wrist, and Auburn Avenue. Her lamentation, “Butterflies,” was adapted into a Visual Poetry Project film. She has essays and poetry reviews in Alone Together, Birmingham Poetry Review, and Heavy Feather Review. elam is a Pushcart Prize nominee, Two Sylvias Wilder Poetry Prize, and Perugia Press finalist. Her poem about the legendary Doris Payne received an honorable mention in the Jeff Marks Memorial prize contest for december magazine. A Cave Canem Graduate Fellow, elam has work in The Future of Black: Afrofuturism and Black Comics Poetry and Let Me Say This: A Dolly Parton Poetry anthologies. A Tuskegee University alumna, she has an EdM from the University of Georgia and an MFA from the University of Southern Maine.
