Robbie Coburn is an Australian poet.
His verse novel for young adults, The Foal in the Wire, described as ‘an astonishingly raw and beautiful verse novel about survival, love and the bonds between humans and animals from an important young Australian poet’, will be published by Hachette Australia in 2025.
Called ‘one of Australia’s most essential poets’ by ArtsHub and compared to Sylvia Plath in The Age, Robbie’s poetry collections include Ghost Poetry (Upswell Publishing, 2024), And I Could Not Have Hurt You (Kiddiepunk, 2023), and The Other Flesh (UWA Publishing, 2019).
His poems have been published widely in Australian and overseas journals including Poetry, Expat Press, Quadrant, Meanjin, Island and Westerly, and anthologised in books including Oystercatcher One (5 Islands Press, 2025), To End All Wars (Puncher & Wattmann, 2018) and Writing to the Wire (UWA Publishing, 2016).
He previously served as co-poetry editor of online creative arts journal Verity La with Michele Seminara, and was one of the editors of the journal’s retrospective anthologies Embody (2020) and The Hunger (2018).
Robbie has also run poetry workshops for youth mental health organisation Headspace.
