The American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute will offer workshops to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers from July 1 to July 23 on the university’s campus in the seventh arrondissement of Paris. The faculty includes poet and fiction writer Siân Melangell Dafydd; poet, fiction writer, and nonfiction writer Biswamit Dwibedy; poet and nonfiction writer Lisa Robertson; and fiction writer Amanda Dennis. The cost of tuition is €2,224 (approximately $2,289) for auditors or €4,448 (approximately $4,577) for transferable academic credit. Lodging is available in residence halls in en suite double occupancy rooms and is arranged through the university. Some rooms include a private study space, and residents have access to a shared kitchen. To apply, submit a personal statement and academic transcripts (or a copy of a tertiary degree for auditors) with a €50 (approximately $51) application fee by May 15. To apply for one of three travel stipends of up to €500 (approximately $515), submit via e-mail a creative writing sample of three to five poems of any length or 5 to 10 pages of prose and a paragraph explaining how this course in Paris might help you develop as a writer, in addition to the completed summer application materials and fee, by April 15.
