Edward F. Albee Foundation Residency [1]
The Edward F. Albee Foundation offers monthlong residencies year-round to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators at the William Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Center on the eastern terminus of Long Island in Montauk, New York. Residents are provided with en suite bedrooms in a converted horse stable and separate working studios, as well as shared access to a library, a kitchen, and the center’s grounds. There is no cost to attend, although residents are responsible for meals and travel expenses. To apply for residencies from July to November, writers submitted up to 12 poems totaling no more than 20 pages, a story or two chapters from a novel of up to 40 pages, or two essays or chapters from a nonfiction book of up to 40 pages; a résumé; an artist’s statement; and contact information for two professional references by March 16.
