The Arteles Creative Center’s Silence Awareness Existence Residency Program offers one-month residencies to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators from January to March in the countryside region of Hämeenkyrö, Finland. Each resident is provided with a private bedroom and working desk as well as access to shared kitchens, bathrooms, and studio spaces in two residency buildings. The residency also offers access to a range of facilities, including a library, a meditation space, a sauna, and common areas. Two cars are available for transportation and exploration. The cost of the residency is €1,950 (approximately $2,123); a limited number of residencies are available at a reduced fee of €1,270 (approximately $1,382) based on financial need. To apply, writers submitted a link to an online portfolio or a writing sample of 5 to 10 pages of poetry, prose, or an English translation of work in either genre, and a brief bio by July 31.
