The 2025 Biographers International Organization (BIO) Conference will be held on June 5 and June 6 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.; select events will also be streamed online. The conference theme will be “Potomac Fever.” Programming includes panels on craft and current issues in biography, including archival research; presidents and first ladies; sports; Black music; the use and misuse of artificial intelligence; audio platforms; and navigating problems with sourcing, scandals, and elusive subjects. The presenters include biographers and nonfiction writers Peter Baker, Kai Bird, A’Lelia Bundles, Ashley D. Farmer, John A. Farrell, Howard Fishman, Samuel G. Freedman, Major Garrett, Allison Gilbert, Susan B. Glasser, Kitty Kelley, Susan Page, and Jared Stearns. Participating publishing professionals include Gail Ross (William Morris Endeavor). Documentarian Dawn Porter will deliver the keynote address. The cost to attend the conference in person is $395 ($345 for BIO members); the cost for online registration is $99 ($49 for BIO members).
