The 2025 Black Sea Workshop, sponsored by the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation, will be held from June 26 to July 2 at the Sozopol Art Gallery in Sozopol, Bulgaria. The workshop features time and space to write; workshops; lectures on local history, architecture, and folklore; student and faculty readings; and an excursion to Varvara, a picturesque village located on the Black Sea coast by the Strandzha mountains for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty includes poet Linda Gregerson, fiction writer Elizabeth Kostova, and creative nonfiction writer Dimiter Kenarov. Residents are provided with single-occupancy private rooms with private bathrooms in several hotels in Sozopol’s Old Town; breakfast will be served at Art Hotel Sozopol. The cost of the full conference, including meals, is $4,100. Attendees are responsible for travel expenses. To apply, submit up to three poems, up to 10 pages of fiction, or no more than 1,500 words of creative nonfiction and a personal statement by March 1. Visit the website for more information.
