Lit Fest

The Lighthouse Writers Workshop’s 2024 Lit Fest was held from June 7 to June 14 online and at the Lighthouse Writers Workshop headquarters in Denver. The festival featured weekend and weeklong workshops, craft seminars, salons, business panels, and agent consultations for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty included poet Jane Hirshfield; fiction writers Steve Almond, Danielle Evans, Vanessa Hua, Alexandra Kleeman, and Claire Messud; and nonfiction writers Emily Rapp Black, Amitava Kumar, T Kira Māhealani Madden, and Meghan O’Rourke. Tuition was $1,375 ($1,225 for members) for a weeklong workshop and $960 ($810 for members) for a weekend workshop. Financial aid was available and included four fellowships that cover full workshop tuition for emerging writers. Lodging was available at nearby hotels for a discounted rate. To apply, writers submitted three to five poems of any length or 10 pages of prose and a cover letter with a $30 application fee by the priority deadline of March 9; applications received after March 9 are considered on a rolling basis.
