Poetry by the Sea: A Global Conference was held from May 21 to May 24 at Mercy by the Sea, a retreat center and private beach in Madison, Connecticut. The conference featured workshops, seminars, readings, and panels. The faculty included poets Chad Abushanab, Austin Allen, Melissa Balmain, Teri Ellen Cross Davis, Anna M. Evans, David Groff, David M. Katz, Joshua Mehigan, January Gill O’Neil, Clare Rossini, and David Yezzi. Participating publishing professionals included editors Dustin Brookshire (Limp Wrist) and Allison Joseph (Crab Orchard Review). Gregory Pardlo gave the keynote address and reading. The cost of the conference, including afternoon seminars or workshops, all lunches and dinners, and a ticket to the keynote banquet, was $949. The cost excluding seminars or workshops was $649. Additional costs were $150 for a one-day workshop, $250 for a two-day workshop, and $49 for a plus-one ticket to the keynote banquet. On-site lodging was available for $159 per night for a shared accommodation or $189 per night for a single accommodation. Off-site lodging at a nearby campsite or at local inns was also available. Breakfast was included with on-site lodging and is an additional $15 per day for those staying off-site. Using the online application form, writers registered by May 10. Accessibility accommodations included two ramps leading up to the venue and automatic doors at the front of the building; accessible bathrooms in five bedrooms as well as an accessible stall in the main bathroom in the front of the building; an accessible dining hall; accessible event rooms; two accessible parking spaces; transcripts of talks (with advance request); closed captioning; and signage in Braille for certain meeting rooms.
