Washington Island Literary Festival

The Washington Island Literary Festival, sponsored by Write On, Door County, was held from September 19 to September 21 at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center and other venues in Washington Island, Wisconsin. The festival featured workshops, panel discussions, author presentations, and a community creative lab for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. The 2024 theme was “Come This Far.” Participating writers included poets Albert DeGenova and Nicholas Gulig; fiction writers Leif Enger, Marianne Fons, Maggie Ginsberg, and Julie Schumacher; and nonfiction writers Paula Carter, Kelcey Ervick, and Catherine Jagoe. The cost of the festival was $280. A single day pass was $125, and workshops were $80 each. The community creative lab was free. Space was limited; registration was first come, first served.
