Fans of the television show The Office know him as the goofy character Jim Halpert, but actor John Krasinski (who has also appeared in the movies Kinsey, Jarhead, and Dreamgirls) will make his writing and directing debut with the film adaptation of David Foster Wallace’s short story collection Brief Interviews With Hideous Men (Little, Brown, 1999). The movie, which will be released later this year, depicts a graduate student’s efforts to face a recent breakup by conducting interviews with a series of men. The cast includes Julianne Nicholson of the television show Law & Order: Criminal Intent; Timothy Hutton; Saturday Night Live’s Will Forte; and Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of the band Death Cab for Cutie.
