The Associated Press (AP) news organization recently announced that it has discontinued the syndicated book review package offered to newspapers through its wire service. The package of approximately twelve reviews was made available each month to the seventeen hundred daily and weekly newspapers across the United States that subscribe to the AP’s news feed. Linda Wagner, the AP’s director of media relations and public affairs, told Editor & Publisher magazine that though the AP is "revamping its Lifestyles coverage to focus more resources on topics like food and parenting," it "remains as committed as ever" to books and will continue to provide coverage through its Arts and Entertainment department in the form of reviews and features about authors.
