The opening of Dickens World, a $115 million theme park in Chatham, England, was recently delayed six weeks due to a problem with some of the materials used in its interactive shows. The park, which celebrates the life and writings of Charles Dickens, was supposed to open to the public on Friday but will now open its doors on May 25.
Dickens World was built on four acres of the naval dockyards where Dickens's father once worked, and depicts a dirty, dark London inhabited by thieves and ghosts. Dickens Fellowship, an association of Dickens devotees, were consulted on the project. An estimated 300,000 people will visit the park each year.
