Five authors are among this year's Celebrity 100, a ranking of the highest earning and most popular celebrities in the world, published annually by Forbes magazine.
While the highest earning celebrity is director Steven Spielberg, who made $332 million during the past year, the list also includes The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown, who made $88 million; Harry Potter series author J. K. Rowling ($75 million); James Patterson ($28 million), who has grossed more than $1 billion during his career; California pastor-turned-author Rick Warren ($25 million); and John Grisham ($21 million).
The author in the list who made the least amount of money, Grisham, still earned more than actors Jim Carrey ($20 million), Jennifer Aniston ($18 million), and Scarlett Johansson ($16 million).
Forbes estimated the earnings based on money made from June 2005 to June 2006.
