The Edith Wharton–Straw Dog Writers Guild Writers-in-Residence Program offers one-week residencies during the month of March to nine emerging poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at the Mount, Edith Wharton’s former home in Lenox, Massachusetts. Residents will be provided a $500 stipend; dedicated private work spaces at the Mount, a 1902 Georgian revival mansion; and lodging at a nearby hotel with private bedrooms and bathrooms. To apply for a residency in 2025, writers submitted up to 10 pages of poetry or prose, a one-page project proposal, and a one-page bio with a $25 application fee (waived for members of the Mount and Straw Dog Writers Guild as well as those experiencing financial hardship) by October 1. Visit the website for complete guidelines.
Accessibility accommodations include elevators in all multilevel event spaces; accessible doorways and hallways; accessible parking; accessible work spaces, living spaces, and bathrooms; assistive listening devices; and ASL interpretation (with advance request).
