Folger Shakespeare Library Celebrates Seventy-five Years

The Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. is marking its seventy-fifth anniversary in 2007 with Shakespeare in American Life, a yearlong schedule of events honoring the poet and playwright who inspired its founding. Events will include readings, plays, lectures, concerts, scholarly seminars and conferences, and three one-hour documentaries on public radio. Among the sponsors of the seventy-fifth anniversary events are Barnes & Noble, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, W. W. Norton, Simon and Schuster, and Time Warner.

The library, which is located one block east of the U.S. Capitol, was founded in 1932 by Henry Clay Folger and his wife Emily Jordan Folger. For more information, visit the Web site.
