Lagardère SCA, the French conglomerate that in February purchased the Time Warner Book Group from Time Warner, Inc. for $537.5 million, recently announced that the U.S. book division’s new name is Hachette Book Group USA. The names of the publisher’s various imprints—Little, Brown; Back Bay; and Bulfinch Press among them—will remain the same.
Time Warner and Lagardère initially agreed to a ninety-day grace period before the name would be changed, but the switch to Hachette Book Group USA will take place immediately—only two months after the acquisition made Lagardère’s publishing division, Hachette Livre, the third largest publisher in the world.
