Arizona State University's creative writing program was the recent recipient of a $10 million endowment from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, the largest charitable foundation in Arizona.

The cash will be used to fund the newly created Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing; an endowed chair for the center's artistic director; the creation of the Piper Creative Writing Scholars Program, which will recruit international students to ASU; the establishment of the Piper Faculty Enrichment Fund to support fellowships for ASU faculty and others to pursue writing and research; and renovations to the ASU President's House, which will open next fall as the Virginia G. Piper Writers' House.
