Headlands Center for the Arts offers four- to ten-week residencies from mid-June to mid-November to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in the coastal wilderness of the Marin Headlands outside San Francisco. Residents are provided with a private bedroom and work space in a shared house, round-trip airfare, five meals per week, and a $1,000 monthly stipend. Writers not currently enrolled in an academic program are eligible. To apply for residencies in 2025, writers submitted a writing sample of up to 20 pages of poetry or 30 pages of prose, a letter of interest, a résumé, and contact information for three references by June 10.
