The 2023 Iceland Writers Retreat for fiction and nonfiction writers was held from April 26 to April 30 at the Fosshotel in Reykjavík. The retreat featured workshops, panels, lectures, and time to write, as well as tours of Iceland. The faculty included fiction writers Chloe Aridjis, Oyinkan Braithwaite, Claire Messud, Helen Oyeyemi, Kiley Reid, Amanda Smyth, and Rúnar Helgi Vignisson; fiction and nonfiction writers Danny Ramadan and James Wood; and nonfiction writers Carol Leonnig and Omar Mouallem. The cost of the retreat was 280,000 ISK (approximately $1,958). Lodging and travel were not included. Attendees were offered a special discounted rate at the hotel of 18,900 ISK (approximately $132) per night for a single room and 21,700 ISK (approximately $152) per night for a double room.
