The Juniper Summer Writing Institute will be held from June 15 to June 21 at the University of Massachusetts campus in Amherst. The program features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft seminars, manuscript consultations, and readings. The faculty includes poets Tiana Clark, Safia Elhillo, and Sam Sax; fiction writers ’Pemi Aguda, Jessica Anthony, and Jeff Parker; and nonfiction writer Dur e Aziz Amna. Visiting writers include poets Abigail Chabitnoy, Noor Hindi, and Maggie Millner; fiction writer Shastri Akella; fiction and nonfiction writer Annie Liontas; and nonfiction writer T Kira Māhealani Madden. Tuition, which includes meals, is $2,200. Manuscript consultations are available for an additional $400. A self-directed residency, which includes all the programming except for workshops, is $1,200. Lodging costs $65 per night for a private on-campus room in a shared suite. To apply, submit five pages of poetry or up to 10 pages of prose along with a writer’s statement by February 5.
