The Litblog Co-op, an online cooperative of twenty-one literary blogs created in 2005 to promote books of contemporary fiction, recently chose Television (Dalkey Archive Press, 2004), a novel by French writer Jean-Philippe Toussaint, translated by Jordan Stump, as the Spring 2006 selection for its Read This! program. The group nominates books for Read This! and chooses four titles per year to receive a formal endorsement. The bloggers then spend one week discussing their choice on the Litblog Co-op Web site and on their respective blogs.
The cooperative, which includes the blogs Moorish Girl, the Literary Saloon, and the Emerging Writers Network, will discuss Television during the week of May 29. Previous Read This! selections are The Angel of Forgetfulness (Viking 2005) by Steve Stern, Garner (Coffee House Press, 2005) by Kirstin Allio, and Case Histories (Little, Brown, 2004) by Kate Atkinson.
