The 37th annual New York State Summer Writers Institute was held from June 23 to July 20 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. The program featured two- and four-week workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for in-person attendees. Manuscript tutorials, public readings, and student-led panel discussions with writers-in-residence were also available for enrolled students. The faculty included poets Richard Blanco, Peg Boyers, Henri Cole, Megan Fernandes, Campbell McGrath, and Rosanna Warren; fiction writers Elizabeth Benedict, Adam Braver, Cristina García, James Hannaham, Amy Hempel, Karan Mahajan, Rick Moody, and Jenny Offill; and creative nonfiction writers Phillip Lopate and Thomas Chatterton Williams. Tuition was $4,040 for four weeks and $2,020 for two weeks. Optional manuscript tutorials were available for an extra $500. On-campus housing was $1,113 for four weeks and $556.50 for two weeks; meals cost $987 for four weeks and $493.50 for two weeks. To apply, writers submitted two to three poems of any length or 5 to 20 pages of prose and a personal statement with a $60 application fee. To apply for a scholarship, writers submitted three to five poems of any length or 15 to 25 pages of prose and a personal statement with a $40 application fee by March 15.
