Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones was recently named Book Sense Book of the Year in the Adult Fiction category. Also nominated were Atonement by Ian McEwan, The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber, Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
The winners of the Book Sense Book of the Year Awards—also given in Adult Nonfiction, Children's Literature, Illustrated Children's Book, Rediscovery, and Paperback—are chosen by independent booksellers across the country who vote for the titles they most enjoyed selling to their customers in the previous year.
