Over the past four years, Scottish writer Erin McKnight has established Queen’s Ferry Press (queensferrypress.com) as a publisher of strong, dynamic story collections. Founded in 2011, the Plano, Texas–based house is now slowly expanding; McKnight signed on a staff of four last fall and has opened submissions to novels and novellas in addition to short fiction. Queen’s Ferry publishes six to twelve titles each year. “We seek bold, mature writing that showcases craft yet inspires feeling,” says McKnight, who named the press after a Scottish coastal estuary near her hometown. Recent and 
upcoming titles include Ben Segal’s collection of experimental shorts, Pool Party Trap Loop (June), George McCormick’s novel Inland Empire (July), and Helen McClory’s debut story collection, On the Edges of Vision (August), which Knight describes as “a meditation on menace.” The press also recently launched an anthology series, the Best Small Fictions, which collects short hybrid fiction from various literary journals and books published in the previous year. The inaugural anthology, edited by series editor Tara L. Masih and guest editor Robert Olen Butler, includes the work of fifty-five writers and will be released in October. Stuart Dybek will edit the 2016 anthology: From mid-November through mid-January 2016, journal editors and book publishers may submit two copies of up to five pieces of short fiction published in 2015. General submissions of full-length fiction manuscripts to Queen’s Ferry Press are accepted through Submittable until August 31; there is no reading fee.
