The 49th annual Southampton Writers Conference was held from July 10 to July 14 at the Stony Brook Southampton campus in Southampton, New York, located on the Atlantic coast 90 miles east of New York City. The conference featured workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings and an agent panel. The faculty included poets Billy Collins and Diana Khoi Nguyen, fiction writer Julia Phillips, fiction and nonfiction writers Matthew Klam and Frederic Tuten, and memoirist Nadia Owusu. Participating publishing professionals included agents Sarah Bedingfield (Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary Agency), Sarah Bowlin (Aevitas Creative Management), and Jade Wong-Baxter (Frances Goldin Literary Agency). The cost to attend the full conference, including workshops, was $1,495. Lodging in campus dormitories was available for approximately $65.75 per night for a shared room or $80.50 per night for a private room. Meal plans were also available for around $250. To apply, writers submitted up to 10 pages of poetry or 10 to 20 pages of prose by April 15. There is no application fee.
