The 36th annual Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers was held from July 10 to July 16 at Wallowa Lake Lodge on the shores of Wallowa Lake, Oregon. The weeklong conference featured generative writing workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as panel discussions, craft talks, and readings. A virtual component was also included. The theme for the 2023 conference was Generations. Faculty included poets Anis Mojgani and Rena Priest; fiction writers Debra Magpie Earling and Jamie Ford; poet and essayist Kim Stafford; fiction and nonfiction writers Robert Stubblefield and Luis Alberto Urrea; and nonfiction writer Craig Childs. Tuition was $925 for the full conference and was pay-what-you-can for the virtual option. Registration was rolling through July 10. Visit the website for more information.
