Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway

The 31st annual Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway was held from January 17, 2025, to January 20, 2025, at the Seaview Hotel near Atlantic City. The program, sponsored by Murphy Writing of Stockton University, offered small intensive workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as one-on-one tutorials, sunrise yoga, and open mic sessions. The faculty included poets Jan Beatty, Nicole Callihan, celeste doaks, R.G. Evans, Luray Gross, Lois Marie Harrod, Le Hinton, Peter E. Murphy, Sham-e-Ali Nayeem, Christine E. Salvatore, and Gretna Wilkinson; fiction writers Libby Cudmore, Hugo dos Santos, and Sam Heaps; and creative nonfiction writers Jiordan Castle, Tyrese L. Coleman, Anndee Hochman, Heather Lanier, and Davon Loeb. Tuition, which included meals, was offered on a sliding scale from $330 to $770 based on financial need; lodging was not included. The cost for a room and meal package was $460 for a double room, $690 for a single room, or $925 for a shared room with a non-participating guest. Additional workshop and feedback sessions were available for $95 to $115. Registration was first come, first served; applicants who registered for lodging by November 20 received a $30 discount.
