Author's Bio

Adele Kenny is the author of 25 books (poetry and nonfiction). Her poems, reviews, and articles have been published worldwide, and her poems have appeared in books and anthologies published by Crown, Tuttle, Shambhala, and McGraw-Hill. She served as associate editor of The Antiquer: Fine Art & Antiques from 2000-2005 and has been poetry editor of Tiferet Journal since 2006. Founding director of the Carriage House Poetry Series, she is the recipient of various honors and awards, including first place in the 2021 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards, two poetry fellowships from the New Jersey State Arts Council, a Merton Poetry of the Sacred Award, a first place Merit Book Award, a Writer's Digest Poetry Award, the 2012 International Book Award for Poetry, a Women of Excellence Award (Union County Commission on the Status of Women) for achievements and volunteer work in the arts and humanities, and a Rahway's Own Award from the City of Rahway (the town in which she grew up). One of her poems appeared on the marquee of the Rialto West Theater in NYC as part of the 42nd Street Art Project. She received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Kean University, and her book A Lightness A Thirst, or Nothing at All was a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize. She has read in the US, England, Ireland, and France, and has twice been a featured reader at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival.
