Angela Shanté

Creative Nonfiction Writer

Author's Bio

Angela Shanté is a former K-12 classroom teacher, and the award-winning author of THE NOISY CLASSROOM, a picture book series that she wrote about her third-grade classroom. Even as a classroom teacher Angela loved being a storyteller and went back to school to receive her MFA from the City College of New York. These days, the native New Yorker isn’t sticking to one coast/industry (or box) and divides her time as an educator and creative in Los Angeles.

Angela’s debut YA title THE UNBOXING OF A BLACK GIRL comes out in 2024.

In addition to her creative work, Angela works as an educational/DEI consultant supporting creative, educational, and culturally relevant projects, training, and workshops for students, adults, and organizations. With almost 20 years of experience in education and advocacy work, Angela is focused on using her voice and platform to support, highlight, and make space for marginalized creatives in the arts and in education.
