Casey FitzSimons is a frequent featured reader at San Francisco Bay Area poetry venues. She has self-published 15 poetry books: More Than I Can Stand to Know 2018, Waiting in the Car 2017, Pushing Sky Aside 2016, The Sharp Edges of Knowing 2015, Buttercup and Other Stories in Verse 2015, Against the Familiar Wall 2014, Standing in the Open House 2013, The Breeze Was Mine: Poems in Form 2013, Riding Witness 2012, No Longer Any Need 2011, In Memory of Marilyn 2011, Altering the Lay of Land 2010, Forgetting My Errand 2009, Nearing This Verge 2008, and Only the Being There 2005–2007. She is included in several anthologies: Marin Poetry Center Anthology 2017, Devices Anthology 2016; Eyedrum Periodically Anthology 2017, River Poets Anthology 2016; Third Thursday 2015, No Ordinary Language 2013, and Shared Light 2012, published by Willow Glen Poetry Project; Something's Brewing 2014; In Gilded Frame (ekphrasis) 2013.

Casey taught art in San Francisco for many years, was Director of Fine Arts at the Academy of Art College. She reviewed exhibits for Artweek and published her book Serious Drawing with Prentice Hall. Later she was VP of editorial and production at Key Curriculum Press, a mathematics publisher.

Casey has a master’s degree in fine arts from San José State University, a juris doctor from Hastings College of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UC Berkeley.

Casey has been on the editorial staff of the Marin Poetry Center Anthology and has been a submissions reviewer for Caesura Poetry Journal in San José. She offers workshops in the San Francisco Bay Area on poetry craft and criticism, and on the interpretation of Robert Frost's poems.
