Author's Bio

Chris L. Butler is a Black American poet born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Chris’ work touches on the intersections of North American existence as someone with with African, European, and Indigenous ancestry. In his work, these identities are often explored and interpreted through the subjects of popular culture, music, history, and politics. In 2023, he became the Editor in Chief of The Poetry Question. He is the Associate Poetry Editor at Bending Genres. Chris co-founded the BIPOC collective Think in Ink which ran from 2020-2024. From 2021-2023, Chris held various roles at Afros in Tha City — including Co-Deputy Editor, Staff Writer, and Social Media Coordinator. He currently lives in the Greater Toronto Area. In 2024, he became a Canadian citizen.
