Author's Bio

David Radavich's poetry collections include SLAIN SPECIES (London, 1980), BY THE WAY: POEMS OVER THE YEARS (1998), and GREATEST HITS (2000). He has also published a full-length comedy, NEVERTHELESS . . . (1989), five short dramas, and a wide range of poetry in journals and anthologies. His plays have been produced across the U.S., including six Off-Off-Broadway. FRAGMENTS OF THE THIRD PLANET received its European premiere in 2000 in Germany as part of their Millennium Festival. AMERICA BOUND: AN EPIC FOR OUR TIME (2007) narrates American history from World War II to the present, while CANONICALS (2009) focuses on "love's hours." MIDDLE-EAST MEZZE (2011) explores a troubled but enchanting part of the world. THE COUNTRIES WE LIVE IN (2014) examines our inner and outer geographies.  AMERICA ABROAD: AN EPIC OF DISCOVERY (2019), a companion volume to AMERICA ABROAD, covers our nation's history from before its founding into the space age.  UNTER DER SONNE / UNDER THE SUN (2021) presents Radavich's German poems with English translations.  His latest book is HERE'S PLENTY (Cervena Barva, 2023).

Radavich has also published scholarly and informal essays on poetry and drama and given presentations in a variety of countries in Europe and Africa. In recent years he has served as president of the Thomas Wolfe Society, Charlotte Writers' Club, and North Carolina Poetry Society. He is poetry editor of DEUS LOCI and coordinates the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series.
