George Franklin is the first prize winner of the 2023 W.B. Yeats Poetry Prize  and the author of seven poetry collections: Remote Cities, Noise of the World, Traveling for No Good Reason, and What the Angel Saw / What the Saint Refused (https://tinyurl.com/Sheila-Na-Gig-Editions ), Travels of the Angel of Sorrow (https://tinyurl.com/Blue-Cedar-Press), Among the Ruins/Entre las ruinas, and a collection in collaboration with Colombian poet Ximena Gómez, Conversaciones sobre agua/Conversations About Water (https://tinyurl.com/Katakana-Editores ).  Journal publications include: Rattle, Cagibi, New York Quarterly, Cultural Daily, Salamander, Sheila-Na-Gig Online, The Threepenny Review, Verse Daily, New Ohio Review, and The American Journal of Poetry, and his work has appeared in Ms. Gómez’s Spanish translations in Revista Abril, El Golem, Álastor, Nagari, Conexos, and Suplemento de Realidades y Ficciones.  He received an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University, a PhD in English & American Literature from Brandeis University, and a JD from University of Miami.  He practices law in Miami, teaches poetry workshops in Florida prisons, is a translation editor for Cagibi, and co-translated, along with the author, Ximena Gómez's Último día/Last Day.  His website: https://gsfranklin.com/
