Author's Bio

I’m an essayist, a literary critic, and a feminist scholar. A longtime contributor to the Women’s Review of Books, I’ve published essays, articles, interviews, and reviews in a variety of publications, including Boston ReviewMotherwellThe New York Times Motherlode blog, and The Washington Post. My personal essays and creative nonfiction have appeared in literary journals such as Minerva Rising and two anthologies, The Good Mother Myth and A Slant of Light: Contemporary Women Writers of the Hudson Valley.

I received a BA from Yale University and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, both in English. I’m an associate professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and an affiliate of the English Department at the State University of New York at New Paltz. I teach classes in gender studies, literature, and creative writing.
