Ivan Brady is Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus and previous Chair of Anthropology at the State University of New York at Oswego. A former President of the Society for Humanistic Anthropology and Chair of the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania, he also served as Book Review Editor of the American Anthropologist for seven years. He is the editor or co-editor of several books, dozens of chapters, articles, and reviews. His poetry has appeared in various books and journals in several disciplines, including Reflections: The Anthropological Muse (Iain Prattis, ed., 1985), The American Tradition in Qualitative Research (N.
