Author's Bio

Jerl Surratt’s poems have been published in The Amsterdam Quarterly, The Fieldstone Review, The Hopkins Review, The Irenaut, Literary Imagination, The New Criterion, PN Review, Washington Review, and in other journals and anthologies in the US and UK. Born in rural Texas, he moved early on to NYC where he worked as a writer for and advisor to local and national nonprofits providing early childhood education, health care and social services to disadvantaged populations, and legal aid and support services to the LGBTQ+ and PWA communities. He is a recipient of The Robinson Jeffers Foundation’s Tor House Prize for Poetry and lives in upstate New York.
