Author's Bio

Jessie Brown works as a poet-in residence in schools and community centers in the greater Boston area. She's the author of two short collections. What We Don't Know We Know, (Finishing Line, 2013), and Lucky (2011 winner for the Anabioisis Press chapbook competition). She took her Master’s degree from the writing program at Stanford, where she studied with Denise Levertov and W.S. DiPiero. Her poems and translations have appeared in local and national journals, including The Comstock Review, Peacework, Soundings East, and the American Poetry Review. A founding member of the Alewife Poets, she gives frequent performances and workshops both in collaboration and alone. She lives in Arlington, Massachusetts.
