J.I. Kleinberg

Artist, poet and freelance writer, J.I. Kleinberg is co-author of the book Fat Stupid Ugly: One Woman’s Courage to Survive (Health Communications, Inc., 2004) and co-editor of 56 Days of August (Five Oaks Press, 2017) and Noisy Water: Poetry from Whatcom County, Washington (Other Mind Press, 2015). She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Design from U.C. Berkeley. A three-time Pushcart nominee and three-time Best of the Net nominee, she posts about poetry in the Cascadia region at thepoetrydepartment.wordpress.com. In addition to conventional-form poetry, she is working on a series of found poem/collages. More than 700 have been published in print and online journals worldwide. Her solo exhibit of visual poems, "orchestrated light," was held in the exhibit space at Peter Miller Books, Seattle, Washington, in May 2022, and was also featured athe the 2022 Skagit River Poetry Festival and in The Cutting Edge: Art of Collage in Asheville, North Carolina, in April 2023. Her chapbooks, The Word for Standing Alone in a Field (Bottlecap Features), how to pronounce the wind (Paper View Press), and Desire's Authority (Ravenna Press Triple Series No. 23) were published in 2023 and chapbook are forthcoming from Poem Atlas and Milk & Cake Press in 2024.
