Jose B. Gonzalez was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and immigrated to New London, Connecticut at the age of eight. He knew no English and now holds a Ph.D. in English. His work has been anthologized in The Norton Introduction to Literature (12th ed.), Theatre Under My Skin: Contemporary Salvadoran Poetry, and The Wandering Song: Central American Writing in the United States. He has published poetry in journals including Callaloo and Calabash, and in collections such as Theatre Under My Skin: Contemporary Salvadoran Poetry. He has been contributor to National Public Radio and has presented at Harvard University, Yale University, and other colleges throughout the country. He infuses his presentations with a mix of poetry, humor, and social commentary. He is also the founder and editor of LatinoStories.Com.
