Author's Bio

Joseph Duemer is a poet and Professor of Literature at Clarkson University. He has published four books of poetry, most recently Magical Thinking (Ohio St. Univ. Press) and his work has appeared in many literary journals, including The Iowa Review, The American Poetry Review, Poetry Northwest, The Georgia Review, and others. . His poem, “Lake Surface Full of Clouds” recently won the 2011 poetry competition from American Literary Review. He is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including two National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowships and study grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities. He was a Fulbright Senior Research Fellow in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2000-2001 and is currently working on a translation of the Chinh Phụ Ngâm, an 18th century Vietnamese anti-war poem as well as other translation projects.
