Author's Bio

Joseph "Sun" Hernandez is one of the few Latino Poets from Westchester County. "Sun" as he is known in the Poetry scene has been writing for the last 15 years and most recently has decided to step away from the title of "Rapper" and embrace Poet. Born to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic and El Salvador, Sun uses his experiences blended with comedic delivery in his performance. He has featured at The Nuyorician Poets Cafe, El Fogon, Barnard College and several other venues/institutes throughout New York City and Westchester County.
His words are just the blue print he is laying down for his daughter to learn the ropes of life. Aside from performing and being a father, Sun is also an educator. Partnering up with fellow NYC poets to introduce the world of Spoken Word Poetry through workshops and performances at The Convenant House (One of the largest Youth/Young Adult shelter in NYC) and Riker's Island Correctional Facility before being hired by the Nepperhan Community Center's Gateway Academy to start his own Poetry Class/Workshop within a Yonkers Public School. Sun's sincerity, charisma, and playfulness makes him a performer to listen and watch.
