Author's Bio

Juanita J. Martin is Fairfield California's first poet laureate, 2010-2012. She's a freelance writer and performance artist. Her poetry book The Lighthouse Beckons was accepted in the Solano County Library in 2013. She is a member of Ina Coolbrith Circle, Benicia First Tuesday Poets, Poets and Writers, and formerly Redwood Writers 2007-2017. She has been a featured reader in the Beat Poetry Festival, Petaluma Poetry Walk, Berkeley Poetry Festival and Healdsburg Literary Guild. Juanita was a finalist judge in the Jessamyn West Poetry Contest for Napa Valley College.  In 2016, Juanita was also a contributing writer with Sonoma Discoveries Magazine in Sonoma County.
