Author's Bio

Julie E. Bloemeke is the author of a full-length collection of poems, Slide to Unlock (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2020), which was chosen as a 2021 Book All Georgians Should Read by the Georgia Center for the Book, and was also recently nominated for the 2021 Georgia Author of the Year Award.  A forthcoming 2021 fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, her poems have been widely anthologized, most recently in Mother Mary Comes to Me: A Pop Culture Poetry Anthology and Pandemic, a UK-based poetry anthology.  A finalist for the Telluride Institute’s 2020 Fischer Poetry Prize, her work is forthcoming or has appeared in numerous literary journals including Gulf Coast, Prairie Schooner, Poet Lore, Cortland Review, South Carolina Review, and others. Her essays and interviews have been published in Writer’s Chronicle, Poetry International, and EcoTheo Review; she also recently co-edited the Dolly Parton tribute issue of Limp Wrist Magazine.  In addition to teaching online poetry workshops, she is a freelance writer, editor, and guest lecturer.  To learn more please visit www.jebloemeke.com
