Author's Bio

Based in Cairo, Egypt and Holland, Vermont, Kathleen Saville is a writer and senior faculty at the American University in Cairo (AUC). In addition to writing academic course curricula, managing a university writing center and literacy program, designing and carrying out EFL programs for teacher development around the world, she teaches creative non-fiction and academic writing in the Department of Rhetoric and Composition at AUC. Her nonfiction writing has been published in Saint Katherine Review, StepAway Magazine, Global Living Magazine, Written River, Orion, Draft Journal, Vermont Magazine, Adventum, and As Told at the Explorers Club. She has been awarded a Mellon Grant and 5 US State department grants for course and program development including two grants to train English teachers in Ramallah, Palestine and Kabul, Afghanistan. Her memoir "Rowing for My Life: Two Oceans, Two Lives, One Journey" about her 1980s rows across the Atlantic and South Pacific Oceans was published by Arcade Publishing, an imprint of Skyhorse Publishing in 2017.
