Author's Bio

Lavinia Spalding is a writer, editor, teacher, and public speaker.  She’s the author of Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler, and co-author of With a Measure of Grace, the Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant, and This Immeasurable Place, Food and Farming from the Ege of Wilderness. She is also series editor of The Best Women’s Travel Writing, and she wrote the introduction to Restless Book’s  e-book edition of Edith Wharton’s classic travelogue, A Motor Flight through France. Lavinia’s work has appeared in many print and online publications, including Tin House, Longreads, AFAR, Yoga Journal, Sunset, Post Road, The San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco magazine, the Guardian UK, and The Best Travel Writing Volumes 9 and 10. She teaches writing and journaling workshops around the world and is available for speaking engagements, corporate storytelling events, private editing, and coaching. She’s a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto and Peauxdunque Writers Alliance, and a faculty member of the annual Book Passage Travel Writers and Photographers Conference. Lavinia is also co-founder of San Francisco’s award-winning monthly travel reading series Weekday Wanderlust. She lives in New Orleans and is represented by Sarah Jane Freymann.
