Author's Bio

Leslie What is a writer, writing teacher, editor, and grandmother. She received a Nebula Award for short story and her collection, "Crazy Love" (Wordcraft of Oregon), was a finalist for the 2009 Ken Kesey Award for Fiction. Her writing has been published in numerous anthologies and in journals. "Crazy Love" received "Publishers Weekly" and "Booklist" starred reviews, and was listed by Booklist as one of the Top Ten SF Books of 2008. The story collection also won a gold medal in the Next Generation Indie Awards. Leslie is the fiction editor of the journal "Phantom Drift: New Fabulism" and nonfiction co-editor with R.A. Rycraft of "Winter Tales: Women on the Art of Aging" from Serving House Books. She has worked as a charge nurse in a nursing home, a caregiver and hospice volunteer, writing instructor, professional tap dancer, and health food warehouse worker. Her sculptures, artisan dolls, and masks have been exhibited in galleries in Oregon, New Orleans, and New York, and she was admitted to the Maskmaker's Guild of New Orleans in the 1980s.
