Lory Widmer Hess

Poet, Creative Nonfiction Writer

Author's Bio

I live with my family in the beautiful Bernese Jura region of Switzerland, where I currently work part-time in a residential home for adults with developmental disabilities.

I've always loved poetry, but after childhood my creativity seemed to shut down, in the face of depression and relationship issues. A crisis in midlife opened up that avenue again, and I am deeply grateful for this healing impulse, which I've begun to share with others through publication. My writing has been published in a variety of print and online publications, listed on my website.

I’m interested in prayer and contemplative practice, and am currently in training to be certified as a spiritual director. My book When Fragments Make a Whole: A Personal Journey Through Healing Stories in the Bible was published in 2024 by Floris Books.
